On March 29, First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii met with a delegation of U.S. congressmen.

Most of delegation representatives were members of the Armed Services Committee headed by Mac Thornberry.

In the course of the meeting, Thornberry noted that Ukraine is currently experiencing a complicated period in its history. He said Ukraine needs economic reform and the reformation of local governing. However, he said that the reforms are impossible without security in the country.

At the end of the meeting, Parubii thanked representatives of the Committee for providing Ukraine with non-lethal weapons and expressed hope for soon reception of lethal weaponry. In turn, Thornberry emphasized that the Ukrainians should remember they are not alone and that the Committee will do its best to help.

After the visit to Ukraine, the delegation will pay visits to the Baltic countries and Poland. Additional ammunition, military hardware and troopers have recently been sent to these very countries by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
